The St James’ Park side are eyeing further reinforcements to their attacking options following Nick Woldemade’s arrival and have identified Dovbyk as a potential target.
Newcastle are reportedly keen on signing the ‘spectacular’ Ukraine international on an initial loan with a view to making the move permanent, with Roma open to parting ways with the 28-year-old in the final two days of the summer window.

While the Serie A side would reportedly prefer his permanent departure, Dovbyk’s temporary move has not been ruled out if Newcastle manage to offer a significant loan fee or an obligation to buy.

The Magpies saw Callum Wilson depart on a free transfer earlier this summer and are still aiming to sign a replacement, with Woltemade seen as a successor to Alexander Isak.
The Sweden international is unlikely to play for the club again amid his ongoing transfer saga, as he is still pushing to join Liverpool in the final days of the summer market.
Newcastle could also move promising forward William Osula before the window shuts and are eyeing Dovbyk as a more experienced option, with a potential bargain deal on the horizon.
Dovbyk, who joined Roma from La Liga side Girona last summer, made 32 appearances in his debut Serie A season, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.
He made two substitute appearances for the Giallorossi in the 2025/26 campaign, with Brighton loanee Evan Ferguson starting ahead of him on both occasions.
Dovbyk joined Roma after a stellar 2023/24 season with Girona, when he scored 24 goals and provided eight assists, finishing the campaign as the competition’s top scorer ahead of Alexander Sorloth, Robert Lewandowski and Jude Bellingham.
