Chelsea discuss signing Manchester United player on loan-to-buy deal

Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho last summer on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. But the English winger had an up-and-down season with the Blues, the club he grew up supporting. By the end of the campaign, Champions League qualification was secured and he even scored in the Conference League final. But that was not enough.Chelsea decided to pay a £5 million penalty to send Sancho back to Manchester United and did not sign him on a permanent basis. But now, it looks like they might be considering signing another of their players on a similar deal.Chelsea need to sign a left winger this summer. Jamie Gittens is believed to be their top target in that respect but they have already failed with three offers for him. So, it is important to keep an eye on alternative targets.Alejandro Garnacho is one of them. And it looks like the idea of signing him on a similar deal to Sancho is being floated. As reported by Football 365, Simon Phillips wrote in his report on Substack: “SPTC sources have heard that Chelsea have been discussing signing Garnacho on a loan to buy deal, just as they did with Jadon Sancho. Of course, both players are Manchester United players, so it would not be a deal that would be unfamiliar to either club and could suit both if the fee is right. I’m not sure if it would be a permanent buy with an option to send him back with a fee, or a straight loan with an option/obligation.“There is nothing to suggest this is definitely what will happen, but it is something that has been discussed internally at Chelsea should they decide to go for Garnacho.”Chelsea discuss signing Manchester United player on loan-to-buy dealNot too long ago, Garnacho was considered one of the brightest talents in world football and the future of Manchester United. But it is safe to say that things have not gone his way in recent times and it looks like Ruben Amorim wants his departure to be resolved this summer.Of course, while Garnacho’s hype might not what it used to be, one cannot forget that he is still just 20 years of age. There is plenty of time to bring his career back on track and a starting role at Chelsea might just give him that opportunity.Chelsea do not really have a right-footed winger right now. So, there would not be much competition for Garnacho, if he can perform at a decent enough level. And a run of games might allow him to rediscover his confidence.
