With Dusan Vlahovic failing to agree to a new contract that would see his Serie A-best salary spread out over another season, it has been widely assumed that the 25-year-old Serbian was going to be on his way out come the summertime.Except as the first day of July is fast approaching, the market for Vlahovic seems … extremely quiet. That is now creating quite the interesting and undesirable situation for new Juventus general manager Damien Comolli, who has been in talks with Canadian striker and soon-to-be free agent Jonathan David to essentially replace Vlahovic on the Juve roster. Due to Vlahovic’s €12 million net salary and his relative underperformance during the 2024-25 season, he is not the in-demand asset that Juventus would have hoped. While there have been rumors of maybe AC Milan or Fenerbache sniffing around, Vlahovic’s market is far from something that you see surrounding other big-name strikers at the moment, with Sky Sport Italia (via TuttoJuve) saying that Juve have yet to receive any sort of concrete offers as we approach the final day of June.As of now, Vlahovic appears to be unwilling to leave Juventus this summer and would rather see out the final year of his contract and earn a pretty penny while doing so, according Corriere dello Sport.Once July arrives on Tuesday, Vlahovic will officially be in the final year of his contract. But as things stand right now and the lack of teams reportedly interested in him, Juventus are basically in a holding pattern of sorts. Juventus clearly want to get him off their books this summer and try to sell him for some sort of profit. But Vlahovic, as of now, doesn’t reportedly seem so keen on that — especially with a market that doesn’t exactly have big names chasing him as things stand right now.So, there’s what you have your standoff.Juventus have yet to reach the point with Vlahovic that they did last summer with Federico Chiesa when they froze him out of the squad to try and force the player’s hand when it comes to moving away from the club. We have not heard anything about if things will reach that point, but you can’t necessarily rule it out considering how Juve do want to move on from their No. 9 who has not lived up to expectations since his club-record move for a January transfer in 2022.But when you’re sitting on €12 million net a season — a salary that two management teams ago worked into Vlahovic’s contract — it makes it a little easier to play your hand rather than pretty much go along with what the club wants to do.This is now becoming an even bigger story this summer than it looked like it would a month or two ago.
