Sign in to your GiveMeSport account West Ham United are interested in signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, with a January departure now inevitable, according to a report from Caught Offside.

The Hammers were in the market for a new centre-back during the summer transfer window after a disappointing start to the season, which has seen them concede plenty of goals already.

On deadline day, West Ham managed to get a deal over the line for Igor Julio, who joined the club from Brighton to bolster their defensive options.

Despite securing a new defender, West Ham could look to add another in January, or at least next summer, with Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma both leaving the club earlier this year.

It remains to be seen whether Graham Potter has enough options in defence with the transfer window only closing earlier this week, and we should get a better picture over the coming months.

West Ham Eyeing 2026 Move to Sign Chelsea Defender Axel Disasi According to a report from Caught Offside, a departure in the January transfer window for Chelsea defender Disasi is now ‘inevitable’, after he failed to secure an exit in the summer.

West Ham are one of the sides who are showing an interest in the defender, who is contracted at Chelsea until 2029, but he might take some convincing in order to make the move to the Hammers.

Disasi is believed to be ‘unconvinced’ by a move to East London, despite Potter being a fan of the player.

The financials of the deal could also make it tricky for West Ham, with Chelsea demanding his salary is paid in full, plus they are hoping to receive a £5m loan fee.

Disasi is yet to feature for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, and it wasn’t much better for him in the previous campaign.

The French defender started just four Premier League games during the 2024/2025 season, playing a total of 364 minutes for the club.

A departure feels like the best move for all parties, and it will be interesting to see whether the Hammers can convince Disasi to make the switch across London.

It wasn’t too long ago that Chelsea paid just under £39m to bring him to Stamford Bridge, but it’s not quite worked out for him at the club so far.
