Barcelona manager Hansi Flick had a few words of warning for Frenkie de Jong ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Real Mallorca in La Liga. The Dutchman has played himself back into the starting XI at Barcelona after missing a large chunk of the season with an ankle injury. However, De Jong was in the spotlight at the weekend after gifting Celta Vigo a goal by failing to control a simple long ball that allowed Borja Iglesias to run through and score.Flick was asked about De Jong ahead of Barcelona’s next game against Mallorca and admitted he wasn’t too impressed with some of his play at the weekend.“We analyse the games, and we show them how we want to do it,” he told reporters.“And sometimes when we have the ball, nobody thinks about losing the ball…but you have to be able to win it back when you do.“There were situations against Celta that I didn’t like.
And we showed them that.”De Jong has been a regular starter since returning to form and fitness but may be given a breather tomorrow, particularly with the Copa del Rey final up at the weekend.
