Manchester United have not always been the best in recruiting from the South American market, but this summer is shaping up to be different. It is no shock that South America has been a sought-after destination for Manchester United in the build-up toward the upcoming summer transfer window, with the new footballing department playing a big role.Head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, is known for his ability to source exciting talent across the world, which has led to players currently in Africa and South America becoming of interest to United when previously they were ignored by Ed Woodward and co.This was one reason Sir Jim Ratcliffe said Woodward knew nothing about football.

Already ahead of this summer, the club’s exciting recruitment strategy has been in action with Paraguayan Diego Leon set to arrive from Cerro Porteno. The club are not done here, though, with Juan Gimenez a rumoured centre-back option for United.

Another possible South American to arrive may be River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono who is a possible attacking addition for United. However, Mastantuono’s River teammate may be an even more exciting prospect, and talks are reportedly underway for Ineos.READ: Who is Juan Gimenez?
