“Far more murkier” – Athletic journalist shares potentially worrying update on Chelsea transfer saga

The Athletic’s Liam Twomey has stated he’s more confident Chelsea complete a deal for Alejandro Garnacho than Xavi Simons.Chelsea have been busy this summer and have made four exciting signings in Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Jorrel Hato.The Blues aren’t done there, and are looking to complete deals for both Simons and Garnacho before the transfer window closes.Garnacho more likely to happen than Simons?Chelsea reportedly want eight or nine attacking options to rotate between in their squad next season, as they prepare to return to the Champions League.The Blues have somewhat revamped their attack with Joao Felix and Noni Madueke both leaving, whilst Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are also expected to be sold.The Blues have identified Simons and Garnacho as players they want to add, but they are yet to make an official offer for either player.Garnacho appears to be an easier deal than Simons. The situation with Simons is far more murkier, though Chelsea’s interest is genuine.”Nkunku a possibility for Bayern MunichNkunku has been mentioned as possibly being involved in a move for Simons, with the 27-year-old thought to be open to a possible return to Leipzig.However, Bayern could be set to step up their interest as they look to replace Kingsley Coman, who is on his way to Saudi side Al-Nassr.Chelsea have reportedly dropped their asking price to £43m, and it remains to be seen if any clubs will meet it, or get near.
