Jamie Gittens signs, £63m forward – Chelsea dream attack after transfer overhaul

Chelsea have been the busiest Premier League club in the summer transfer window so far. Indeed, Enzo Maresca’s side confirmed their third piece of business with the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg on Monday. Sarr, 19, has signed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge and follows Liam Delap and Dario Essugo through the doors, with the teenager set to be involved in the club’s squad for this month’s Club World Cup. More players are expected to follow and Chelsea have rubberstamped the need to strengthen the attack ahead of the 2025/26 season, with a right-footed left-winger at the top of their shopping list. Jamie Gittens is the reported frontrunner after impressing for Borussia Dortmund this season, scoring 12 times and providing five assists in 48 matches across all competitions. The 20-year-old is said to be keen on leaving Dortmund this summer and has informed the German club of his decision. Dortmund, meanwhile, are open to selling the player for a lower fee due to his mixed performances in the second half of the season. As a result, £50.4million is expected to be enough for the Blues to secure a move for Gittens and they are hoping to get a deal done quick. Should Chelsea sign Gittens, he would become their first-choice left winger, leaving Tyrique George as back-up. Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke would battle for the starting spot on the right-hand side, with Cole Palmer acting as the central attacking midfielder. Victor Osimhen is the man the Blues need to look at. Osimhen had been targeted as a marquee signing for Al-Hilal ahead of the Club World Cup and a £63million package had been agreed between the Saudi Pro League side and Napoli. There was a confidence that a deal could be finalised before the first transfer window deadline on June 10 to ensure he can feature in their group matches at the FIFA event. However, Osimhen, 26, rejected a fifth proposal from Al-Hilal and his preference would be to remain in Europe, with a ‘top Italian club interested’. Chelsea have been linked with a move for Osimhen for some time as the Blues look to strengthen their forward line. football.london understands that Osimhen remains a player of interest to Chelsea, though there are concerns over wages that might be demanded. Despite this, the Blues should press ahead and attempt to secure his services, even if Arsenal and Manchester United are keen. Osimhen scored 37 goals in 41 matches during a successful loan at Galatasaray in 2024/25 and that has made him a more appealing option to potential suitors. If he can replicate even half of that return at Chelsea, that would make him an astute purchase and one that could take them to the next level. Looking at players who would not be part of Chelsea’s squad, Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan and won’t be signing for the Blues on a permanent basis. Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku is set to depart after falling down the pecking order near the end of the season. Marc Guiu should be allowed to leave on loan as he searches for more regular game time. If Chelsea can go into the new season with Osimhen, Delap, Jackson, Madueke, Neto, Gittens, George and Palmer as part of their senior attacking players, that would make it a ‘dream’ attack for Enzo Maresca.
