The September international window arrives too soon for some, with additional breaks in October and November further disrupting the domestic season.FIFA has revised its schedule moving forward, meaning there will be only three international windows per season following next year’s World Cup. The governing body plans to merge the September and October windows into one extended break, giving priority to international football over club commitments during that time.As a result, this will be the final time players link up with their national teams at the start of September, with the new format set to take effect next year. A longer 16-day international window will take place from September 21 to October 6 next year, allowing each nation to play up to four matches.That will be followed by the usual nine-day, two-match windows in November and March, ensuring countries play the same number of games while reducing disruption to club football.Once the Premier League returns next weekend, Ruben Amorim’s side will face their local rivals, City, at the Etihad Stadium.
