The Gunners have earmarked the Sweden international as a potential reinforcement for Mikel Arteta’s frontline and are believed to be ahead of Manchester United in the pursuit of the 26-year-old. Tavolieri claims United are ‘concerned’ about Arsenal’s lead in the race for Gyokeres and have already begun exploring alternative targets, including Fiorentina forward Moise Kean. Gyokeres is reportedly open to a Premier League move after the season, having previously spent time in England with Brighton and Coventry City before joining Sporting in 2023. Arsenal Leading Viktor Gyokeres ChaseAhead of Man United to sign the 26-year-old Gyokeres, praised as ‘the best striker in the world’, has developed into one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers during his time at Sporting, netting 95 goals and providing 28 assists in 100 appearances. The Portuguese side are believed to be open to his departure this summer and would reportedly consider bids in the region of £55m to £70m. Gyokeres’ contract runs until 2028, and Coventry City are set to receive 10% of any profit Sporting make above the fee they originally paid for the Swedish striker, labelled as ‘the hottest striker in Europe’. Arsenal are likely to end the campaign without both of their natural strikers, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, who have both suffered long-term injuries. The Gunners are expected to address their attacking concerns with the arrival of a new number nine, after closing in on a deal for Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi. The Spanish midfielder is set to become Arteta’s first signing of the summer, with Arsenal having agreed to pay his £50m release clause.
